Quick Weight Loss and Grocery Shopping
One of the best ways you can achieve quick weight loss is by changing the way you eat on a daily basis. If you’re someone who rarely cooks at home, and instead chooses to hit fast food chains and have unhealthy snacks in place of nutritious meals, you are sabotaging any other weight loss strategies you might be trying.
When you go to the supermarket, there is definitely a right way and a wrong way to shop when it comes to eating healthy. The most basic thing you can do is shop the perimeter of the store and do your best to avoid the aisles. If you walk around the perimeter you usually see the fresh fruits and vegetables, the deli, the fish counter, sometimes a butcher’s counter, the dairy section, sometimes the bakery, and sometimes the frozen foods, which you actually want to avoid more often than not.
Obviously you want to fill your cart with as much fresh produce as you can. Whether you’re on a diet or just trying to live a healthy lifestyle, fresh fruits and vegetables always fit in. The deli can be utilized for some cooked chicken or lean beef for sandwiches. Don’t skip the fish counter. Salmon and other heart healthy fishes are an important part of your diet. Packed with omega-3’s, you should be having fish one to two times per week.
The butchers area can allow you to buy some chicken or beef for stir fry’s, fajitas, etc. The dairy section should by and large be avoided except for maybe some low fat cheese and yogurt. Milk is not really something you want to drink too much of, especially if you can find other foods to get your calcium and vitamin D from.
If you decide to buy anything in the bakery section, make sure it’s not white. Choose a rye or multi-grain bread instead. Basically if it’s white, it’s not right. My father-in-law calls white bread “white death”. And he’s right.
So that’s the best way to shop if you’re trying to live a healthy lifestyle, and especially if you’re looking to lose weight quick.
Good Luck.
