What Is P90X Muscle Confusion?

P90X, are your muscles confused? That is the question a lot of people are asking. What is P90x muscle confusion and does it work? The way the P90X workouts are arraigned is to constantly change which muscles you work out and the way you work those muscles out. The reason they do this it to prevent you from reaching a point where your workouts get stagnate. I think anyone who has worked out in the past has found that after a month or two of working out that you don’t see as much improvement with the same amount of effort. P90x attempts to “confuse” your muscles to prevent them from getting used to the workouts.

Now many people think that muscle confusion is, for lack of a better word, stupid. Muscles don’t have brains so how can they get confused. These people who believe that muscle confusion does not work would say you only need two things that prevent your workouts from stagnating. One increases the stress of the workout (more weight) or increase the volume of the workout (more reps). They would say if you are not seeing an increase in the size of your arms from doing curls then you should do more weight or more reps. They would say you don’t have to confuse your muscle just work them harder.

Now from a scientific point of view that make sense to me but from a mental point of view I think muscle confusion is great. I need variety I need to change up my workouts so I don’t get bored, I need change, so whether my muscles are going to get huge are not with muscle confusion I don’t really care, because I guarantee if I stop working out because I was bored I wouldnt see any gains in size or strength. So physiologically I don’t know if P90x works really confuses your muscles or not but I do know that I look forward to a change in my workouts and anytime you can look forward to a workout that is a good thing.
